The morning's edition of The Ledger carried a story on Florida's Move Over Law. We previously posted information regarding this important law on several different occasions. We appreciate The Ledger also getting this information out to the public today. The more times Florida drivers hear about the law only increases the opportunity for drivers to remember to move over.
As I noted in a posting several months ago:
We realize many drivers do not move over or slow down as required out of ignorance to the law rather than due to indifference. While ignorance is not a defense, we believe there is a need to educate the public before engaging in aggressive enforcement efforts.
Our efforts at education, however, are not forever. Enforcement will soon increase, and that will cost you money. You may just save a life and some money along the way by moving over for stopped emergency vehicles.

i just got a citation on the move over law know i never heard about it and i apologize to the officer about not moving to the other lane. now fine he gave me a ticket, i suggest maybe sending out letters to whom ever has a license stating this law. you have them on record that we have a license. then we wont have a excuse why we did not know.
