We previously posted on the upcoming "Idea Gathering Meetings" that Lakeland Vision is holding throughout our community. These meetings are intended to give residents the opportunity to provide input on what changes you feel will make Lakeland a better place to live and work.
I attended the initial community meeting last night at Lakeland High School. The attendance was very impressive as residents came out to participate in the process and prioritize their ideas as to how we can make Lakeland a better community than it already is.
Participants are randomly assigned to smaller break-out groups where trained facilitators from our community guide you through a collaborative brainstorming process to collect ideas and rank them in priority order. A follow-up overview of all ideas generated during the session is reviewed at the end of the meeting, so you leave with a sense of what was mentioned in the other group meetings. It is difficult to leave the meeting without having a sense that Lakeland will be better as a result of this visioning initiative.
I encourage everyone to join us at one of the remaining meetings. Here is a schedule for those dates and times.
