Lakeland Police celebrated the Cops for Kids program on Thursday, December 16, 2010. There were approximately 400 kids that came to the Lakeland Police Department to visit Santa, eat a meal donated by the Texas Cattle Company, and open gifts.
There was an added surprise this year to the celebration. Twenty bicycles were raffled off to children throughout the evening. The bicycles had been refurbished by the Police Athletic League who worked to fix them up by replacing tires, bicycle seats, and anything needed to make the bicycles almost as good as new.
The Lakeland Police Department would like to thank all of the volunteers and generous community members that made this event possible.
