Lakeland Police responded to 6800 State Road 33 North on January 26, 2011, at approximately 11:30 pm after receiving a report of a traffic crash at this location. The driver of a blue 2003 Ford Focus passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on State Road 33 when it impacted the rear of a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle that had exited the parking lot of the JC Penny Warehouse moments prior to the crash. The driver of the motorcycle, Juan Hernandez (DOB: 8/15/81, 805 Indian Bluff, Winter Haven) was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The driver of the Ford Focus fled the scene on foot. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact Officer Mike Catalano at the Lakeland Police Department at 863.834.2558, or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.266.8477.
The name of the registered owner of the vehicle is being withheld at this time.

Lakeland Police responded to 404 Miramar Street, Lakeland, on October 31, 2010, at approximately 2:45 am after the report of a vehicle stolen from this location. Victim, Tristan Morris, age 27, of 85 High Street, Winter Haven, left his 2006 Nissan Maxima outside a friend’s house at this location with the engine running while he ran inside. After being inside for about a minute, he heard “squealing tires” and ran outside just in time to see his vehicle disappear onto Old Road 37 in Lakeland.
A short time later officers spotted the vehicle. The vehicle fled and crashed into a residence at 335 Doris Drive in Lakeland. The driver of the stolen vehicle, Dustin McDowell (DOB: 3/11/92 of 526 Cody Caleb Drive, Winter Haven), fled from the scene of the crash on foot but was apprehended and taken into custody. McDowell was charged with Grand Theft of Motor Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Improper Backing, and Careless Driving.
As a result of the crash, a 10 by 8 foot hole was left in the front of the residence at 335 Doris Drive making marijuana plants inside the residence visible from the exterior. Officers found equipment in the residence that was dedicated to the growing of marijuana indicating that the residence was being utilized as a grow house. Marijuana plants weighing over 800 grams were removed from the residence as well as 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine. During the course of the investigation it was established that the utilities for the residence were in the name of Christopher Blagg, (DOB: 2/21/79, 2328 Magnolia Avenue, Lakeland) and that the residence was rented by Christopher Blagg
.
In January, 2011, a complaint affidavit was filed and a warrant issued for the arrest of Christopher Blagg for Cultivation of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana over 20 Grams, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Blagg was arrested on the warrant on January 20, 2011.

Lakeland Police responded Sun Trust Bank, 3005 Lakeland Highlands Road at approximately 10:00 am on January 24, 2011, in response to a robbery that had just occurred. Victim, Ronald Nunnally, age 65, of Lakeland, was at the ATM outside the bank when he heard a voice behind him demand money. Nunnally turned and saw a black male, 5’7” to 5’8”, wearing a black hoodie and black jeans standing behind him holding a handgun. Nunnally struggled briefly with the suspect and during the course of the struggle received minor head injuries. The suspect was able to get the money from Nunnally and fled on foot westbound from the location.
Police searched the area with K-9 and helicopter and continued to patrol the area. Anyone with information should contact the Lakeland Police Department, 863.834.6900 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.226.8477.
This suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

UPDATE, January 18, 2011 1:12 PM:
UPDATE: January 18, 2011. Police will be distributing fliers in the area of 1108 S Rd 98 at approximately 5:00 pm today (January 18, 2011). The fliers will have a photograph of the victim along with contact information for police. These fliers are being distributed to reach out to the community in an attempt to reach those that may see the photograph and remember an encounter with the victim, or recall other information that will assist police in solving this case.

Lakeland Police responded to 1108 S Road 98, #H-85 at approximately 10:00 PM on January 14, 2011, where victim, Robin Nock Windsor, (white female, DOB: 4/30/57) resided alone. Victim was found deceased inside the residence and police are stating that this case is a brutal homicide.
Police are are asking anyone with information to contact the Lakeland Police Department, 863.834.6900. Police do not have a suspect in custody at this time and are requesting the assistance of the public to identify this killer.Additional information is not being released at this time because it may compromise the investigation.

On January 14, 2011, at 3:21 AM, the Lakeland Police Department responded to a commercial armed robbery in progress at the 7-11 Store, 290 Lakeland Park Drive. The suspect Jonathan Woods entered the store with a pistol grip shotgun and demanded money from the clerk and a customer. The suspect left the store and entered a vehicle driven by his brother, Jared Woods.
An eyewitness outside of the store followed the vehicle and alerted police to its whereabouts. Within one mile of the store, uniform patrol officers pulled the vehicle over at which time both suspects fled on foot. The suspect, Jonathan Woods was observed discarding the shotgun in a row of bushes. Both suspects were apprehended by LPD Police K-9.
Police discovered two passengers in the vehicle and after questioning, the suspect Jessica Lynn Brooks was also charged with Armed Robbery.
The clerk was not injured in the robbery.

Lakeland Police responded to WalMart, 3501 S Florida Avenue on January 13, 2011, at approximately 2:20 PM after receiving a report of a strong armed robbery. Police were advised that an adult male had attempted to leave the store with merchandise and was confronted by store security. The suspect pushed security personnel and fled on foot from the location.
Police responded to the scene and attempted to locate the suspect. Curtis Letchworth, (DOB: 10/18/75, 5311 Sandra Way, Lakeland) voluntarily returned to the scene and turned himself over to police. The stolen property was also recovered.
