Lakeland Police responded to 1825 Glendale Street on May 10, 2011, at approximately 1:00 PM after receiving a report of two persons on the fenced grounds at the City of Lakeland Water Treatment Facility. Two persons fled after being spotted on the property by City of Lakeland Employees. Lakeland Police responded and apprehended both subjects on foot in the area of Lagoon Road and Bayou Drive. One of the subjects was carrying a waterproof back pack that contained two cell phones belonging to the subjects.
The investigation indicated that they were playing a game that involved hiding on the property and then running away when spotted by city workers without getting caught.
Nikolas Schatz, age 18, of Lakeland, and a male juvenile were both charged with Trespassing (M1).
Media inquiries should be directed to Sergeant Terri Smith, 863.834.6917.
