Lakeland Police Arrest Man for Theft of Air Conditioner Coils and Locate Methamphetamine Lab

Lakeland Police responded to 406 Union Drive on August 26^th, at approximately 10:30 pm after  receiving a tip that men were seen in the area carrying air conditioning coils into the trailer on Lot 11.  Sergeant Mike Spade made contact at Lot 11 where he found Dennis Snow (DOB:  11/22/78, 405 Union Drive #13), April Morse, (DOB:  7/2/80 8535 Matthews Road), and Joseph Morse, (DOB:  8/7/78, 8535 Matthews Road). Sergeant Spade also located stolen air conditioning coils and a methamphetamine portable lab inside the residence.   Both April and Joseph Morse gave officers false names to prevent them from finding they had outstanding warrants.

Further investigation led officers to the Iglesia De Dios Torre Fuertte Church located at 703 Hull Street.  The air conditioning unit at the church had been damaged and the coils removed.  Dennis Snow was arrested for the theft of the coils from the Church.

April Morse was arrested for:

1)      Sumter County Warrant for Manufacture and Possession of Methamphetamine

2)      Giving false information to a law enforcement officer.

Joseph Morse was arrested for:

1)      Polk County warrant for Driving While License Suspended/Revoked

2)      Giving False Info to a Law Enforcement Officer. 

Police are asking citizens in the community to continue providing tips when they see suspicious behavior regarding air conditioning units and parts.  It is tips such as these that lead to arrests of those responsible for these thefts.

Lakeland Police CPAA Host 3rd Annual Honoring Heroes BBQ and Silent Auction

Lakeland Police CItizens Police Alumni Association is hosting the 3^rd Annual “Honoring Heroes” BBQ Dinner and Silent Auction on  Friday, September 9, 2011, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lake Mirror Center, 121 S Lake Avenue in Lakeland.   This event is held to raise funds for the Lakeland Police K9 Unit.  Those attending this event will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with a member of the Lakeland Police K9 Unit as well as enjoy a great BBQ dinner.

The Silent Auction begins at 6:00 PM and closes at 8:00 PM.  Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door.This event is sponsored by the Lakeland Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association.

Lakeland Police Attempt to Identify Business Burglary Suspects

Lakeland Police are attempting to identify suspects of a burglary to a business that occurred  on July 20, 2011, at approximately 3:00 AM at the Express Food Mart, 4301 New Tampa Highway.

The suspects in the photographs broke into the business by force and removed merchandise and cash.

Lakeland Police Attempt to Identify Vehicle Burglary Suspect

Lakeland Police are attempting to identify a suspect of a vehicle burglary that occurred on August 12, 2011, at approximately 1:00  PM while the victim’s vehicle was parked at the Super Stop Food Store, 2103 S Lincoln Avenue in Lakeland. The suspect in the photographs attempted to use credit cards stolen in the burglary to purchase merchandise from stores in the area.

 

The suspect is further described as a white male, 5’06” tall, weighing 140 to 160 pounds with short brown hair and close cut beard. If you can identify this suspect, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1.800.226.8477.

Lakeland Police Attempt to Locate Wanted Person

Lakeland Police are attempting to locate Casey James Nance (AKA Justin Nance, DOB:   9/21/84).  Nance currently has an active warrant for Aggravated Fleeing to Elude and Driving While License is Suspended/Revoked.  Lance is a white male, 5’07” tall weighing 180 pounds.

Lakeland Police Arrest Two for Burglary to Business

Lakeland Police have arrested two on burglary charges in relation to a series of burglaries that  occurred on August 26^th, 2011.  A total of three business burglaries occurred between 4:30 am and 8:00 am.  Reececliff Restaurant (940 S Florida Avenue), Hungry Howies Pizza (1101 S Florida Avenue), and Scooters Skin Art (1037 S Florida Avenue) were all burglarized.  Joshua Boyce (DOB:  8/13/92, 624 W Belmar St) and Robert Waltons (DOB:  8/17/95, 602 W Belmar) were arrested when Officer Doug Mills observed them fleeing from Scooter Skin Art while responding to an alarm call from the business. 

Property from all three burglaries was recovered.  Both Boyce and Waltens were charged with Burglary and Grand Theft for the burglary to Scooters Skin Art.  The other two burglaries are also being investigated.  Additional charges may be forthcoming.

Lakeland Police Attempt to Identify Burglary/Fraud Suspects

Lakeland Police are currently attempting to identify two suspects of a burglary and fraud that  occurred in July, 2011..  On July 22, 2011, a vehicle burglary occurred to an unlocked vehicle parked at 1004 West Main Street in Lakeland.  The victim’s purse was stolen from the vehicle.  On July 23, 2011, the victim was notified that there was an attempt to purchase merchandise at a retail store with credit cards that were stolen during the burglary.

The two suspects on the right were identified as those attempting to use the victim’s stolen credit card.  Also pictured to the right is the vehicle police believe the suspects were driving.

Lakeland Police Attempt to Identify Armed Kidnapping/Robbery Suspects

Lakeland Police are currently attempting to identify three suspects of an Armed Kidnapping  and Armed Robbery that occurred on April 8, 2011, at Plantation Square (5375 N Socrum Loop Road) at approximately 10:15 a.m. 

Victim, Richard Farah, age 75, was approached by a hispanic female who asked him to assist her at her vehicle.  While the female lured Farah to the vehicle and distracted him, Farah was forced into what is believed to be a 2001 or 2001 white Chevrolet Suburban by a hispanic male and held against his will while his money was taken.  Farah was kept prisoner in what is believed to be a 2001 or 2002 white Chevrolet Suburban.  Farah felt an object being held against the back of his head when he was attacked,  but did not see the object so it is unknown what type of weapon the suspects used.  This incident took place after Farah had made a withdrawal of a large sum of money from his bank. 

Farah was later released at Walgreens located at 4445 US 98 North. 

The hispanic female suspect was later observed with an additional white female in a surveillance video of a business near where the crime occurred.   All three suspects are believed to have been working together.

Farah made contact with a deputy in the parking lot of the Walgreens and reported the crime.  Farah was not injured during the attack. At this point in time it appears the suspects were aware of the victim’s recent bank withdrawal.  Anyone with information regarding the identity of these suspects is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or Detective Brian Wallace at 863.834.8968 or brian.wallace@lakelandgov.net.

Lakeland Police Attempt to Identify Grand Theft Suspect

Lakeland Police are attempting to identify a suspect of a grand  theft that occurred on 
Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Macy’s, Lakeland Square Mall. 

Suspect dashed from the store with property from the jewelry display case.

Lakeland Police Attempt to Identify Theft Suspects

Lakeland Police are attempting to identify  two men for a theft that occurred on Tuesday, July  19, 2011, at Sears, Lakeland Square Mall.  Both suspects are black males, one is described as heavy set, one as “skinny”.  The suspects may have left the store in a gray Chevrolet Impala.
