The Medical Examiner’s office has provided the Lakeland Police Department with a preliminary ruling of homicide in the shooting case of Daylon Easton. Detectives are continuing to investigate and pursue leads in this case. Further information will be provided as it is received.

Lakeland Police received information that Daylon Easton died Monday afternoon. An autopsy has been scheduled; final investigation is pending results of the autopsy.

At last report from detectives the victim, Daylon Easton, remains in very critical condition at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Detectives are continuing to investigate this incident and are interviewing individuals who were in the home at the time.
Lakeland Police will provide updates when new information becomes available.
******ORIGINAL RELEASE******
On February 18, 2012 at 11:23 p.m., Lakeland Police responded to 1202 Jewel Avenue in reference to a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers found Daylon Oshae Easton, 17, (b/m 05/05/1994) on a living room couch with a gunshot wound to the head. Several individuals were in the home at the time, however no one could provide information on the shooting. The victim is in very critical condition.
This investigation is ongoing.
