Lakeland Police Sweep K-9 Competition

Lakeland Police K-9 teams competed in the 2012 United States Police Canine Association Region 1 Field Trials in Gulf Shores, Alabama, the week of February 20-23, 2012.  During this event, each K-9 team is judged and scored on their performances in specific areas to show competency as a working police dog team. This method of evaluation has produced a very challenging field of competitive law enforcement officers who vie for ranking and standings as top dog and top K-9 units in Florida, Alabama and parts of Georgia.  LPD put together two 4-man teams to compete in this event along with 51 other K-9 teams.

The two Lakeland Police teams took first and second place in 4-man department teams, as well as, taking the honors of having the “Top Dog” at the trial.  The dedication and commitment to excellence displayed by the LPD K-9 Unit was unmatched as no other agency in the history of these trials has ever placed 1^st and 2^nd in the team competition.

Overall: (possible 700 points)

1^st Place - Officer Sealey and K-9 “Bruno” - 697.00 (new Region 1 record, old record was 695)

3^rd Place - Officer Thompson and K-9 - “Harris” – 688.82

5^th Place - Officer Peterman and K-9 - “Charief” – 682.83

7^th Place - Officer Bowling and K-9 “Riddick” – 678.49

9^th Place - Officer Barrett and K-9 “Echo” – 677.00

12^th Place - Officer Bosque and K-9 “Tiberius” – 665.82

13^th Place - Officer Manrow and K-9 “Quanto”  – 665.33

18^th Place - Officer Back and K-9 “Remy” – 649.50

 

Obedience: (possible 120 points)

Sealey 1^st – 119.67

Thompson 4^th – 117.83

 

Agility: (possible 60 points)

Sealey 1^st – 60

Bowling 3^rd – 59.33

Barrett 4^th – 59.17
